Region of Thailand
The geographical shape of Thailand is linked to an axe. The country is situated on the Indochina Peninsular in the middle of the South East Asian region where lie the 10 ASEAN countries. Thailand borders Laos PDR and Myanmar to the north, Lao PDR and Cambodia to the East. The 4,350 kilometers of Mae Kong Rivers flows through 6 countries in Asia and works as a natural border of Thailand. Thailand also borders Myanmar and the Andaman Sea on the west, and Malaysia and the Gulf of Thailand on the south. The country is situated between 5° 37’ North and 20° 27’ North Latitude, and between 97° 22’ East and 105° 37’ East Longitude.
The North of Thailand is a mountainous region with the peak of 2,565 meters above sea level at Doi Intanon. The weather is cool or cold during the months of October to February. The Northeast of Thailand is a plateau called Khorat Plateau. The South of Thailand is part of the peninsular that reaches down to Malaysia. The Gulf of Thailand covers 320,000 square kilometers on the east side of the land. The coasts of the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are combined to 3,219 kilometers long.
Thailand boasts many beautiful and popular coastal towns, including Hua Hin, Krabi, and Pang-nga, as well as many world-renowned islands like Koh Phuket and Koh Samui. The period between November to March is best for tourism in the South. On the east side, there are a number of lively beach towns like Pattaya and Koh Chang.
