Most travelers either arrive at Suvannabhumi Airport, the country’s major airport about 25 km east of Bangkok, or Don Muang Airport, the old international airport. These airports serve international air traffic from Europe, North America, Australia, and almost all countries in Asia daily. Some flights from Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong also arrive at Phuket and Hat Yai International Airports in the South, and Chiang Mai International Airport in the North. In 2009, more than 84 airlines operated more than 190,000 flights at these airports.
